Benefit tourney is postponed

January 18, 1994|By Steven Kivinski

Inclement weather forced the postponement of yesterday's Fuel Fund Classic at the Baltimore Arena.

Three boys and two girls games, including a matchup between Dunbar's second-ranked boys team and No. 4-ranked Woodlawn, were scheduled.

Proceeds from the event were to have benefited the Fuel Fund of Central Maryland, which assists needy area families in paying fuel costs.

"We've been planning this for a year, but what can you do?," said Joni Scholwin, Fuel Fund Classic planning committee chairwoman. "We're going to try to reschedule it for some time in February. We got some possible dates from the Baltimore Arena, but we still need to contact the schools and see what we can do.

"We're hoping we don't lose any of the games, but if we can get at least three of the games, we will go along with it."
