West Carroll GOP to meet Monday

Hampstead resident C. D. "Hap" Baker Jr. will talk to members of the West Carroll Republican Club about gun legislation at 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 200 Main St., New Windsor.

The meeting was postponed last night because of snow.

Mr. Baker, treasurer of the Carroll County Sportsmen's Association, is active in Annapolis lobbying against gun-control legislation. He is a hunting and firearms safety instructor.

Also postponed last night was a meeting of the Carroll County Taxpayers Association. Rep. Roscoe G. Bartlett, a 6th District Republican, was scheduled to address the group. That event has not been rescheduled.

Multiple sclerosis group plans country dance

The event includes country dance instruction from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. with dancing afterward to the sounds of Branded. Tickets are $10 per person. The price includes beer and setups.

Western dress is requested. Those in western attire will be entered in a drawing for a prize. Money wheels will be operated, and a silent auction will feature items donated by merchants.

Proceeds will help support research and services for residents of Carroll, Frederick and Howard counties who have multiple sclerosis, a disease of the central nervous system. Information: 840-9203.
