City man charged with weapon, drug possession

January 13, 1994

Annapolis police arrested a 21-year-old motorist on drug and weapons charges early yesterday after he was stopped for driving across a double yellow line on Taylor Avenue in front of city police headquarters.

They charged Samuel Hudson IV of the 200 block of Farragut Court with possession, possession with intent to distribute and possession within a designated drug-free zone of crack cocaine, and possession of a deadly weapon.

Police said they found an 11-inch knife and $1,500 worth of suspected crack cocaine in Mr. Hudson's car after he was stopped about 2:15 a.m.

Pfc. Sean W. Ottey stopped Mr. Hudson, who was driving a 1981 Oldsmobile at Cedar Park and Glen avenues, within 1,000 feet of Germantown Elementary School, police said.

Officer Ottey arrested Mr. Hudson after he found the large knife concealed under his foot. Police later found a brown medicine bottle containing 75 off-white rocks, identified as crack cocaine, $497 and a pager.

He was being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center in lieu of $25,000 bond.
