Gunman robs fast-food restaurant

January 13, 1994

A gunman grabbed a fistful of money from a cash drawer at a Brooklyn Park fast-food restaurant Tuesday evening, county police said yesterday.

Police said the gunman walked into the Burger King in the 5500 block of Ritchie Highway about 8:30 p.m. and passed the cashier a note announcing a robbery.

As the cashier read the note, the gunman began making small talk with her and reached over the counter and grabbed money out of the cash drawer.

He opened his coat to show her a gun, then ran out of the restaurant.

Robbery try follows request to use phone

Two men who used a broken down car as a ruse, attacked and tried to rob a Brooklyn Park man Tuesday night, county police reported.

The men knocked on the door of a house in the 100 block of West Meadow Road at 10:15 p.m. They told the resident, Thomas C. Drowsky, 48, that their car had broken down and asked to use his telephone.

Mr. Drowsky let them inside, and they made a telephone call before attacking him and trying to rob him, the police report said.

Mr. Drowsky managed to fight them off and the pair ran out the front door.
