Two facing charges in attack on Contee

January 12, 1994|By Pat O'Malley

Seconds after Arundel upset Southern, 76-72, in a boys basketball game last night in Gambrills, Southern player Corey Contee was jumped by two men and a brawl escalated into the stands.

"Charges will definitely be filed by us against the two subjects," said Officer Kenneth Russell of the Anne Arundel County Police Western District last night.

"The two subjects are Southern alumni and picked a fight with Corey over a past dispute. After the fight was separated, the one subject was taken to Kimbrough Hospital and we are not sure of his condition at this time."

The two men were wrestled to the floor by Arundel coaches and parents, and one of them was bleeding profusely from his head after the fight broke up. He apparently struck his head on the bleachers. Contee was not injured.
