Orioles -- Signed 3B Leo Gomez to a one-year contract.

Boston Red Sox -- Announced manager Mark Meleski, pitching coach Jim Bibby and coach Joe Marchese will return next season to Single-A Lynchburg.

Chicago White Sox -- Agreed to terms with P Scott Radinsky on a one-year contract.

Milwaukee Brewers -- Agreed to terms with P Bob Scanlan on a one-year contract.

San Diego Padres -- Agreed to terms with 2B Bip Roberts on a one-year contract.

Seattle Mariners -- Signed IF Luis Sojo to a Triple-A contract and invited him to spring-training camp as a non-roster player. Hired Jerry Royster as a coach for Double-A Jacksonville. Announced that the broadcast team of Dave Niehaus, Ron Fairly, Chip Caray and Ken Levine will return for the 1994 season.

Basketball

NBA -- Named Golden State Warriors rookie F Chris Webber Player of the Week.

Orlando Magic -- Signed assistant coach/C Tree Rollins to a 10-day player contract.

USA Basketball -- Named Detroit Pistons G Isiah Thomas to the U.S. team that will compete in this summer's World Championships in Toronto. Announced Golden State Warriors G Tim Hardaway will be unable to compete in the World Championships because of a left knee injury.

USA Boxing -- Named Bruce J. Mathis executive director.

College

NCAA -- Named UCLA softball pitcher Lisa Fernandez 1993 Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year.

ACC -- Named Wake Forest G Randolph Childress men's basketball Player of the Week and Maryland C Joe Smith Rookie of the Week. Named North Carolina F Charlotte Smith women's basketball Player of the Week and Georgia Tech F Kisha Ford (Bryn Mawr) Rookie of the Week.

Campbell -- Announced that it is leaving the Big South Conference, effective June 30.

Furman -- Announced sophomore G Bill Harder has decided to transfer to Clemson.

Georgia Tech -- Named Gary Crowton quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator.

Michigan -- Announced F Makhtar Ndiaye, formerly with Wake Forest, signed a letter of intent.

Mid-Continent Conference -- Agreed in principle to a consolidation with the East Coast Conference, effective in the 1994-95 academic year. Accepted Missouri-Kansas City as a member, effective in the 1994-95 academic year.

Patriot League -- Named Navy freshman G Randy Torgrimson Rookie of the Week.

Texas A&M -- Announced baseball coach Mark Johnson was elevated to president of the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Denver Broncos -- Announced the retirement of defensive line coach Ernie Stautner.

Indianapolis Colts -- Fired defensive coordinator Rick Venturi, secondary coach George Catavolos, defensive line coach Francis Peay and defensive assistant Jay Robertson.
