Neall to meet with landfill committee

January 11, 1994

County Executive Robert R. Neall is to meet Friday with members of the Millersville Landfill Advisory Committee, who threatened last week to disband because they were frustrated that county officials did not pay enough attention to them.

Mr. Neall is to bring two of his aides with him, said Louise Hayman, spokesman for the county executive.

In a heated meeting last week, the seven members complained repeatedly they have not been furnished with the information they need to work with the county on bringing the landfill into compliance with state environmental rules and threatened to quit.

They held off, however, after County Councilman David G. Boschert, a Crownsville Democrat, asked the committee members to speak with Mr. Neall.

Mr. Neall created the committee nearly two years ago, and Mr. Boschert urged the panel to speak with the county executive before taking any action.

The group asked Mr. Neall to arrange a meeting and include county officials who are responsible for landfill operations.
