Traffic stop nets gun, drugs

January 11, 1994

An Annapolis teen-ager and a man were charged with possession of a handgun and crack cocaine after police stopped a car in the parking lot of a Pasadena liquor store Sunday, police said.

Officer Eric Scott was on routine patrol on Bay Dale Road at 12:23 p.m. when he stopped a car for speeding. After the driver pulled into the parking lot of Bay Mart Liquors, the police report said, the driver and the passenger appeared to be changing places and moving things around in the car.

Officer Scott ordered the pair out of the car at gunpoint, the police report said. The 16-year-old passenger refused to follow the officer's orders and began to reach for his waistband, the report said.

Officer Scott yelled to him several times before the youth fell to the ground.

Officer Scott searched the youth and found a loaded 9 mm handgun in the front waistband of his pants, the report said. Police also confiscated crack cocaine and marijuana.

The youth and his companion, Irvin Aris Crody, Jr., 24, of no fixed address, were taken to Eastern District station to be charged.
