Annapolis woman, 22, kidnapped in parking lot

January 10, 1994

A 22-year-old Annapolis woman was kidnapped Thursday night as she got out of her car at a Spa Road convenience store, county police reported.

Jean Lynn Stone, of the 200 block of Hilltop Lane, pulled into the parking lot of the WAWA store in the 1000 block of Spa Road at 9:12 p.m.

As she started to get out of her car, a man ran up, forced her back inside and told her to drive out of the parking lot, the police report said. The man rummaged through her purse until she pulled over in front of the 700 block of Annapolis Steet, about a mile away.

Ms. Stone began struggling with the man, and he cut her face before she managed to get out of the car and run to a nearby house to call police, the report said.

Her assailant got out of the car and ran into the woods. Police searched the area, but did not find him.

Teen, man arrested for drug possession

A county police officer, making a traffic stop at a Cape St. Claire liquor store parking lot, arrested an Annapolis teen-ager and a man after discovering a handgun and drugs in their possession shortly after midnight yesterday.

Troy A. Hammond, 16, of Croll Drive, and Irvin A. Crody Jr., 24, of an unknown address, were charged with handgun and drug possession after being stopped at the Bay Mart Liquors parking lot at Bay Dale and Old Mill Bottom roads.

The officer, finding the two men acting suspiciously, stopped their car and ordered them at gunpoint to lie on the ground.

The police officer said he found a 9 mm semiautomatic Ruger handgun in the waistband of the Hammond youth, who was charged as an adult.

Police said the officer also found unspecified drugs and money in the possession of both suspects.
