Radford downs Towson, 82-58

RADFORD, Va. -- Tyrone Travis came off the bench to score 16 points as Radford defeated Towson State, 82-58, last night in the Big South Conference opener for both.

Don Burgess added 14 points for Radford.

John James scored a career-high 13 points to lead Towson State 0-1). Point guard Scooter Alexander (Dunbar) had just nine points, the first time in 40 regular-season games he did not score in double figures.

Radford (7-3, 1-0) extended a six-point halftime lead to 42-32 in the first minute of the second half. The Tigers rebounded to cut the lead to 45-40 on Alexander's jumper at 13:36, but Radford went on a 16-5 run to put the game away.
