A 38-year-old Reisterstown man, accused of beating and raping a woman who offered him a ride from a Finksburg tavern in October, was arrested and held at the county Detention Center without bond Thursday night.

Lonnie Layton Price, who lives in the 6000 block of Glen Falls Road, was charged with kidnapping, second- and fourth-degree rape, and assault with intent to rape, state police said.

Investigators said the woman reported meeting a man at the tavern Oct. 3 and offering him a ride as she left.

She told police she stopped her vehicle on a road in a wooded section of the county because she had to get out of the car briefly.

While she was out of the car, the man struck her on the head, forced her to the ground and raped her, she told police.

Investigators said they were told the man forced the victim back into the car and drove the vehicle for several miles before stopping and walking away.

Police said the victim drove off, but was involved in a serious single-car accident and hospitalized before she could report the rape.

Investigators in the sexual assault unit of the county state's attorney's office and state police took their findings to the county grand jury, which indicted Mr. Price on Dec. 30.
