W. Maryland advances in overtime

ANNVILLE, PA — ANNVILLE, Pa. -- Western Maryland (4-6) scored the first seven points of overtime and held on to beat Delaware Valley (0-8), 81-77, last night in the first round of the Rinso Marquette Tournament at Lebanon Valley College.

Junior guard Pat Young (Mount St. Joseph) led the Green Terrors with 17 points and senior forward Rolando Welch added 16.

Benedict College 94, Bowie State 72

PETERSBURG, Va. -- Kevin Burrows scored 21 points to lead Benedict College (11-1) past Bowie State (5-6) in a semifinal of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Tournament.

Frostburg State 95, Capitol College 50

FROSTBURG -- Donny Woodard had 20 points to lead Frostburg State (7-2) in the first round of the Little Caesar's tournament.

Johns Hopkins 54, Chicago 37

CHICAGO -- Lou Sabad had 17 points to lead Johns Hopkins (7-3, 4-1) past Chicago (1-10, 0-2) in a University Athletic Association game.
