January 07, 1994

Heavyweight Blaine Gasch of Riverdale Baptist pinned Northeast's Dan Defenbaugh in 1:17, lifting the Prince George's County school to a 36-35 win yesterday over the defending 1A-2A champs.

The Eagles (6-1), who yielded three forfeits and were without two injured starters, are ranked No. 2 by The Baltimore Sun and No. 2 by the Maryland State Wrestling Association. Riverdale's Crusaders (4-0) are No. 5 by the MSWA.

Northeast's Ron Katzenberger, who scored a pin at 160 pounds, said, "It was a good match, but we weren't really beat -- just outmanned."
