DNR seeks increase of rockfish limit

January 05, 1994

Maryland's Department of Natural Resources will hold a public meeting on proposed regulations for the spring trophy rockfish season tomorrow at 6 p.m. in Annapolis.

The primary changes for the season, which runs the month of May, would be a reduction in minimum size limit from 36 inches to 34 inches and a creel limit of one fish per person per day. Last year, the creel limit was one per person per season.

The season will have a catch limit of 5,000 rockfish. Last year, the cap was 3,000.

The meeting will be held in the lower conference room of the state Department of Agriculture headquarters building on Harry S. Truman Parkway.

On Monday, DNR will hold a public meeting on management plans for spot, croaker and American eel at 7 p.m. in the same location.
