English teacher

Burton L. Bellinger, an English teacher at Potomac High School in Oxon Hill, died Saturday at Harbor Hospital Center in Baltimore after a heart attack. He was 44 and lived in Glen Burnie.

He had been a teacher at the Prince George's County school for 10 years. He was named Teacher of the Year there in 1990 and two years later was listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers.

Born in Gloversville, N.Y., and raised in the Solley area, he was a graduate of Solley Elementary School, George Fox Middle School and, in 1967, of Northeast High School.

He served in the Army and the Army Reserve during the Vietnam War and was a 1972 graduate of Loyola College. He belonged to the Sons of the American Legion and Solley United Methodist Church.

Services were set for 11 a.m. today at Solley United Methodist Church, 7600 Solley Road in Glen Burnie.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, the former Dolores Charles; a daughter, Faith Sarah Bellinger of Glen Burnie; his parents, Catherine and Lewis Bellinger of Solley; and a sister, Marcia Stinemire of Glen Burnie.
