POLICE LOG

* Owen Brown: 6100 block of Majors Lane: A thin man wearing a red baseball cap was seen attempting to pry open a rear sliding door with a large knife Friday night. Police said the man was scared away by a resident who approached after hearing noises.

* Oakland Mills: 7000 block of Oakland Mills Road: A glass door was shattered and cash was taken Thursday night or Friday morning.

* Long Reach: 6800 block of Old Waterloo Road: A 1991 Jeep Cherokee stolen between Wednesday and Friday was recovered Saturday.
