Loyola student, 14

David M. Morris, a freshman honors student at Loyola High School, died Saturday at Garrett County Memorial Hospital of injuries he received in a skiing accident. He was 14.

Reared in Hunt Valley, he was a student at Pinewood Elementary before attending Loyola beginning in the sixth grade.

TC Fond of sports, he enjoyed lacrosse, football and basketball and was a member of the freshman football team at Loyola last season. Earlier, he played lacrosse for the Cockeysville Recreation Council and golfed and played tennis at the Hillendale Country Club.

"David loved collecting sports memorabilia," his father, Stephen A. Morris, said. "He was a great Redskins fan, and his favorite player was Art Monk. He even carried his card in his wallet."

Tim Pierce, director of the lower school at Loyola, said, "He was simply a kid who loved the school, his friends and family. He was just a great kid.

"I'll always remember him as a happy and warm kid who was always willing to help others."

A Mass of Christian burial is set for 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at St. Joseph Texas Roman Catholic Church on Church Lane in Cockeysville.

He is also survived by his mother, Deborah McKeegan Morris, a brother, S. Ryan Morris, and a sister, Jennifer A. Morris, all of Hunt Valley; his paternal grandfather, Stephen A. Morris Sr. of Baltimore; and his maternal grandmother, M. Virginia McKeegan of Boca Raton, Fla.
