Kidnapped woman found in Laurel

A Washington woman who was abducted Tuesday night from the street where she lives was found early yesterday in Laurel, nude and beaten, Anne Arundel County police said.

The 32-year-old woman called police from Ritter Trucking Co., in the 8200 block of Brock Bridge Road, after waking up in a nearby yard. Police said she was naked and missing $40 in cash.

Authorities said the woman was walking to a corner store near her home in the 1000 block of 1/2 St., S.E., when a man approached her and hit her over the head with a baseball bat. She apparently passed out while she was being driven around. When she came to, she was in Laurel.

The woman was taken to North Arundel Hospital where she was treated and released.

Trio returning tape shoot up Severn home

Three men returning a tape to a Severn home early yesterday opened fire on two brothers, missing the intended targets but hitting the home twice, Anne Arundel County police said.

Police said the three men were returning a cassette tape to a house in the 1900 block of Arwell Court in Pioneer City a few minutes after midnight. When residents John Stevenson, and his brother, Jason, both 33, went to the door, one of the visitors fired a shot in the air.

As the Stevenson brothers retreated from the door, another of the visitors fired twice, hitting the front door and the side of the house. No one was reported injured.

Landfill committee to meet Tuesday

The Millersville Landfill Advisory Committee and the Department of Public Works will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Western District Police Station, 8273 Telegraph Road, Odenton.

The meeting is open to the public.
