December 28, 1993

County police have charged three juveniles with robbing a 33-year-old Laurel man on Christmas Day.

Eric Roman, 17, of the 200 block Red Clay Road in Laurel, and Shawn Espy, 16, of the 3400 block Andrew Court in Laurel were charged as adults with the armed robbery of Charles Warfel of the 3400 block Andrew Court.

A third youth was charged as a juvenile with the robbery and possession of marijuana. Police could not give his age or say why he was not charged as an adult.

According to police, the victim was approached on Old Annapolis Road at Style Avenue in Laurel at about 1 a.m. by three teen-agers. One of the youths pulled out a pair of scissors and demanded money while the other two stood lookout. Mr. Warfel handed over $60, and the robbers fled toward an apartment complex.

The victim flagged down a passing police officer who searched the area and located the suspects behind some cars in the apartment complex.
