9 four-wheel-drive vehicles are stolen

December 28, 1993

Thieves stole nine four-wheel-drive vehicles from East Columbia neighborhoods Sunday, Howard County police said.

"All this happened about the time we were getting all the bad weather," said spokesman Sgt. Steve Keller. "Maybe it was some sort of prank. We're not sure yet."

Sergeant Keller said the thefts occurred between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. in the Lake Elkhorn area of Owen Brown. All but one of the vehicles were recovered in the area by yesterday morning, police said.

Police said they have no suspects in the vehicle thefts.
