Got one Chia Pet too many?

Instead of taking it back to the store or assigning it to that great discards heap in the back of the closet, a telephone company is offering another alternative.

Glenn Kendall, president of QCI phone company, wants your worst or wackiest presents. Admittedly, it's a promotion for the long-distance company, which will award owners of the top 10 all-time useless presents with its long-distance calling card and $25 worth of free phone calls.

(The company charges 25 cents per minute with the calling card.)

"It was an idea on how to get our card out there and also to do something for charity," Mr. Kendall says. The company will donate all the presents to homeless shelters and charities.

Until Jan. 8, the gifts can be sent to "Thanks But No Thanks c/o Jericho Promotions, 924 Broadway, New York, N.Y. 10010.
