Skins switch long snappers

December 22, 1993

WASHINGTON -- In an attempt to improve their long-snapping position, the Washington Redskins yesterday put veteran Guy Bingham on the injured reserve list with a bruised left knee and signed free agent Marc Rabb to handle the job.

The Redskins feel that problems with the snaps have contributed to kicker Chip Lohmiller's ineffectiveness this year. He has made only 12 of 22 field-goal attempts and was wide left with a 42-yard try against the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday.

Compounding the problem with the snaps was the fact the Redskins have had two holders hurt this year.

Bingham, 35 and in his 14th season, has been the team's long snapper the past two years.
