Commissioners approve purchase of rights RTC

December 21, 1993

Carroll commissioners yesterday voted unanimously to purchase the development rights on a 159-acre farm in the 1700 block of Greenwood Church Road near New Windsor.

The county will spend $201,163 to buy the development rights through the county's critical farms program. The farm is owned by Faith and Eric Burall, who now rent a farm in Frederick County. The Buralls plan to move their dairy herd to Carroll in March. The property is contiguous to the 6,200-acre Uniontown-New Windsor agriculture preservation area and is across Old New Windsor Road from the new Lehigh Portland Cement Co. quarry.
