Star in Hampden

December 20, 1993

Anyone who doubts the joyfulness of Christmas should visit, after dusk, the brilliantly lit 700 block of West 34th St., between Chestnut Ave. and Keswick Rd., in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore City.

Residents have extended outdoor Christmas light decoration from an electricians' folk art into a profound message of joy and goodwill.

The growing fame of this neighborhood effort attests to its transcendence. To see it and not smile is impossible. Bah, humbug? Check it out, with a small critic in tow.
