* Sam Wanamaker, 74, the American actor-director who campaigned to rebuild Shakespeare's Globe Theater on the banks of the River Thames, died yesterday at his home in London. He had cancer. Wanamaker, who was born in Seattle, starred in the play, "Joan of Lorraine," in 1946 and directed "Two Gentlemen from Athens" in 1947.
