Redskins' Banks out with sore groin

December 18, 1993|By Vito Stellino

Linebacker Carl Banks, who started the first 13 games of the season, became the latest victim of the Washington Redskins' injury jinx when he was placed on the inactive list for tomorrow's game against the Atlanta Falcons with a groin injury.

Banks will be replaced by Monte Coleman.

Only three defensive players -- cornerback Darrell Green, linebacker Kurt Gouveia and safety Brad Edwards -- have started every game.

Offensive lineman Paul Siever, safety Darryl Morrison and tight end Terry Orr also were placed on the inactive list.

Running back Reggie Brooks missed practice for the third straight day yesterday because he's visiting his father, who's fighting cancer, in Tulsa, Okla. The Redskins expect Brooks to be back tomorrow.
