Orioles -- Agreed to terms with IF/OF Mark McLemore on a one-year contract.

Chicago White Sox -- Designated 3B Ron Coomer for assignment.

Cincinnati Reds -- Signed P Kevin Wickander and P Brian Holman to one-year contracts.

Cleveland Indians -- Acquired P Brian Barnes from the Montreal Expos as the player to be named in the Dec. 13 deal that sent former Orioles IF Randy Milligan to Montreal. Placed LHP Greg McCarthy on waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release.

Houston Astros -- Invited OF Jesse Barfield to spring training as a non-roster player.

Los Angeles Dodgers -- Signed P Steve Wilson to a one-year contract.

New York Mets -- Signed P Doug Linton and C Ray Stephens to minor-league contracts and invited them to spring training as non-roster players. Signed OF Fernando Ramsey and P Brandy Vann and assigned them to Triple-A Norfolk.

Oakland Athletics -- Agreed to terms with OF Rickey Henderson on a two-year contract.

Pittsburgh Pirates -- Agreed to terms with IF Jeff King on a one-year contract. Signed P Urbano Lugo, P Dennis Powell, P Scott Scudder and IF/OF Tim Leiper to minor-league contracts.

San Diego Padres -- Invited SS Kevin Elster to spring training as a non-roster player.

San Francisco Giants -- Announced they will not offer contracts to P Jeff Brantley, P Terry Bross and P Gino Minutelli.

Buffalo Bisons (American Association) -- Promoted assistant general manager Mike Buczkowski to general manager.

Basketball

NBA -- Fined Orlando C Shaquille O'Neal $5,000 for a flagrant foul against Seattle F Shawn Kemp in a game Dec. 14. O'Neal was also fined $250 for being ejected from the game.

College

Arkansas State -- Extended the contract of football coach John Bobo through the 1996 season.

Coastal Carolina -- Declared basketball F Dennis Price ineligible as a result of information obtained during recent interviews conducted by the NCAA.

New England Collegiate Conference -- Named William Moore commissioner.

Northeast Louisiana -- Announced that athletic director Benny Hollis is resigning to become associate director of auxiliary services.

Utah -- Suspended basketball player Ed Johnson for the season for violating team rules.

Virginia -- Suspended women's basketball G Konecka Drakeford pending the outcome of credit-card theft and credit-card fraud charges.

Football

NFL -- Announced that Fox Television's bid for the NFC television package has been accepted and the network will begin broadcasting games next season.

Los Angeles Rams -- Placed OT Jackie Slater on injured reserve.

Philadelphia Eagles -- Placed DE Tim Harris on injured reserve. Signed WR Paul Richardson, who was waived from the practice squad earlier in the day.

Hockey

Detroit Red Wings -- Recalled D Bob Halkidis from AHL Adirondack.

Montreal Canadiens -- Re-assigned G Les Kuntar to AHL Fredericton.

Pittsburgh Penguins -- Returned RW Ed Patterson to IHL Cleveland.

Vancouver Canucks -- Recalled C Neil Eisnehut from AHL Hamilton.
