Save Our Streams honored for enhancing environment

December 17, 1993

Maryland Save Our Streams has received the first Spencer P. Ellis Award for environmental enhancement.

The Potomac and Maryland chapters of the American Society of Landscape Architecture gave the award this month to the Glen Burnie-based environmental group in recognition of its "work to protect water quality, the habitats and the watersheds of Maryland."

Save Our Streams' "vigorous programs for environmental quality reflect the spirit of this award," the society stated.

The award was made in memory of Mr. Ellis, the late assistant secretary of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
