Roofers from Minnesota robbed at Laurel motel

December 16, 1993

Howard County police are looking for two men who robbed a group of Minnesota roofers at their Laurel motel room Monday night.

The two armed men, who both wore ski masks, fled the Econo Lodge in the 9700 block of Washington Blvd. with the three victims' wallets.

The roofers were working in the area.

Police said that about 8 p.m. Monday, one of the suspects knocked on the victims' motel room door and asked for a person by name.

When he was told that the person was not there, the suspect pulled a mask down over his face and forced his way in, along with the other suspect.

Once inside, they ordered the three men to turn over their wallets before locking them in a bathroom and ransacking the room, police said.

Anyone with information can call Howard County police at 313-2266.
