Teens invited to make visits to sister cities

December 16, 1993

The Columbia Association is seeking teen ambassadors to Columbia's oldest sister city, Cergy-Pontoise in France, and its newest sister city, Tres Cantos, Spain.

Two groups of high school students will experience family life in the two countries when they spend two weeks in homes in Cergy-Pontoise, outside Paris, and Tres Cantos, outside Madrid, in July .

After returning to Columbia, some program participants will be hosts to visiting foreign students from the sister cities.

The expected cost of approximately $950 includes air fair and the program fee; spending money will be needed. Limited financial assistance may be available.

Teens must be between 15 and 17 and have at least two years of French or Spanish. Students must apply by Jan. 15. A screening committee will select participants in February.

Applicants should contact county foreign language teachers, the Columbia village offices or the Columbia Association Sister City Coordinator at 715-3162.
