Man robs store in Annapolis

A man saying he was armed with a handgun robbed a convenience store in the 1700 block of Forest Drive in Annapolis about 10 p.m. Saturday.

After walking around the store for several minutes, police reported, the man went to the counter as if to purchase something, then reached inside his jacket, told the clerk he had a gun and demanded money.

The cashier, who told police he never saw a weapon, gave $21 from the register to the man, who left, police said.

Six people charged with cocaine possession

Six people were arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine after a police raid in Lothian Friday.

County police raided a house in the 800 block of Mount Zion Marlboro Road at 7:45 p.m. The six people arrested included two people who lived in the home, Deborah Michele Barry and William A. Springs. Also arrested were Alfred Johnson, of the 4100 block of Sands Road in Harwood, Samuel M. Gross, of the 4200 block of Sands Road, Dennis C. Maynard, of the 200 block of Friendship Road in Friendship, and John K. Coates, of the 5500 block of Sudley Road in West River.

UPS honors Nevin for 20 years' service

Natalie Nevin of Fairhaven has been honored for completing 20 years of service at the United Parcel Service.

An administrative assistant in Landover, Mrs. Nevin was cited for her loyal service. She and her husband, John, have two sons, Johnny, 5, and Jimmy, 3.


* Annapolis: Someone smashed a front window at Sunny's Surplus on Old Solomons Island Road with a large piece of concrete and stole an unknown number of jeans and sweat pants about 2:26 a.m. Sunday.
