December 10, 1993

County Executive Robert R. Neall yesterday appointed two new members to county advisory boards.

Julie D. Goodwin, a lawyer for Morgan State University and a Brooklyn Park resident, was named to the board of directors of the county Department of Social Services (DSS).

Donna Appenzeller of Maryland City was appointed to the county's recreational advisory board.

Ms. Goodwin, who joined Morgan State in January 1992, was university counsel to the University of Maryland College Park for 10 years.

At College Park, she was a member of the president's legal staff, director of the Residency Classification Appeals Office and chaired the Intercampus Review Committee.

Her term on the social services board ends June 30, 1994. The board of directors advises and evaluates the county's Social Services Department, and reviews and recommends estimates of funds needed for the county's social services and public assistance programs.

Ms. Appenzeller has volunteered with the Maryland City Recreational Council, the Maryland City Teen Club, the PTA of Brock Ridge Elementary School, the Maryland City Newsletter Committee, the Anne Arundel County Sexual Assault Hot Line, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department and the Maryland City Girl Scouts.

She is a certified dental assistant and works as a surgical assistant. Her term ends Dec. 1, 1994.

The recreation board advises the director of the Department of Parks and Recreation on issues relating to the county's recreation programs and cooperative activities with private organizations and schools.
