Gymnastics

Four members of the Carroll Challengers had ranking performances in last weekend's Harford Holiday gymnastics tournament.

Jamie Schlipper (Level 5, 9-up age group) outpointed 32 other contestants with an all-around score of 34.00. She scored 9.20 on balance beam (first), 8.90 on floor exercises (third), 7.70 on vaulting (fourth) and 8.20 on parallel bars (fifth).

Also at Level 5 (7-8 age group), Kenna Haden was 7.40 on beam (fifth) and sixth on floor.

Tammy Wilson (Level 7, 12-14) was fifth of 30 contestants on floor exercises, with an 8.05. Heather McGee, in that same level and age group, was third on beam with a 7.60.

The Perna Gymnastics Club's Level 9 girls squad placed second in a field of 15 teams at the Harford Holiday tournament.

Four Perna Level 9 girls ranked among the top finishers in various events. Erica Ebaugh (9-11) was 8.90 on vault (second).

Kristen Totten (12-14) had 8.80 on vault (third) and 8.95 on floor (second).

Jessica Groszkowski (12-14) scored 8.70 on vault (fifth), 8.10 on bars (third), 8.25 on beam (fourth) and 33.55 all-around (third).

Shannon Wright (12-14) had 8.75 on vault (third), 7.55 on bars (second), 8.10 on beam (third) and 8.45 on floor (sixth).

Melissa Denhart (Level 10, 15-over) scored 9.05 on vault, 8.00 on bars, 8.85 on floor and 34.15 all-around, placing third in all four categories.

Claire Tull (Level 5, 7-9) scored 6.90 on vault (third), 7.50 on bars (second), 8.60 on beam (first) and 8.90 on floor (first).

Lindsay Winter (Level 5, 7-9) was 7.90 on bars (first) and 7.60 on beam (fourth).

Kadie Thomas (Level 5, 7-9) scored 6.65 on vault (sixth), 8.20 on beam (second) and 7.70 on floor (fifth).

Brittany Traeger (Level 5, 9-11) had 7.65 on vault (first), 7.05 on bars (fifth), 7.00 on beam (sixth) and 8.70 on floor (second).

Amanda Ebaugh (Level 6, 9-11) had 9.15 on vault (second).

Courtney Prentice (Level 6, 12-14) had 8.65 on vault (third).

Aimee Willett (Level 6, 12-14) scored 8.55 on beam (second) and 8.65 on floor (third).

Becky Furhman (Level 8, 9-11) had 8.65 on vault (first), 8.30 on beam (second), 8.85 on floor (first) and 33.15 all-around (third).

Cindy Reese (Level 8, 12-14) had 8.35 on vault (fifth) and 7.80 on beam (sixth).

Youth soccer

5 Under-14 boys -- Undefeated Mercersberg (Pa.) nipped Westminster, 2-1, in double overtime Sunday.

The loss knocked the Wolves out of the Mason-Dixon League's postseason tournament. The Wolves' Mike DeVincent tied the game 1-1 near halftime on a direct kick.

Mercersberg scored a breakaway goal near the end of the second overtime to win the game.

Swimming

Carroll County YMCA defeated Frederick, 484-141, Saturday. Carroll youngsters placing first or second were:
