Junior forward Mona Jackson scored a career-high 27 points and senior guard Emily Moore added 13, as 12th-ranked Howard (2-0) cruised to a 60-29 victory against Frederick (0-1).

The Lions limited the Cadets to just three points in the first quarter and held a 31-15 halftime lead.

* Lake Clifton 68, Walbrook 27: Junior shooting guard Jinika Conley scored 22 and junior captain Natisha Ferguson added 17 rebounds, five blocked shots and 16 points to lead the No. 6 Lakers over the No. 7 Warriors at the Lake Clifton Mixer.

* Mercy 30, Bryn Mawr 26: Christina Williamson scored 14 points and Meg Kline added 10 in leading No. 15 Mercy to a 30-26 win over Bryn Mawr in the season opener for both teams.

Bryn Mawr sophomore forward Emily Hickman led all scorers with 17 points.

* Forest Park 58, Northern 37: Sherri Anderson's triple-double helped Forest Park beat Northern at the Lake Clifton Mixer.

Anderson scored 28 points and had 12 steals, 10 rebounds and five assists for the Foresters (1-1).

Forest Park's LaShaunda Clark had 12 blocked shots, 12 rebounds and 10 points.

* Perry Hall 38, Franklin 35: Host Franklin (1-1) missed a potential game-winning shot with 23 seconds left in a loss to Perry Hall (1-1).

The Gators had led by as many as 10 points until Jill Smith (12 points) and Jennifer Cooper (12 points) mounted a comeback for Franklin.

* Forest Park 58, Northern 37: Sherri Anderson's triple-double helped Forest Park beat Northern at the Lake Clifton Mixer.

Anderson scored 28 points and had 12 steals, 10 rebounds and five assists for the Foresters (1-1).

Forest Park's LaShaunda Clark had 12 blocked shots, 12 rebounds and 10 points.

* Dunbar 39, City 38: Angel Davis led an 18-8 fourth-quarter scoring run, as visiting Dunbar (2-0) defeated City at the Lake Clifton Mixer. Vanessa Griffin led City with eight.

Boys basketball

* Cardinal Gibbons 73, Bishop McNamara 64: Steve Wojciechowski scored 38, hitting 23 of 29 free throws, to lead the No. 10 Crusaders (3-1) over visiting Bishop McNamara (2-2) in a non-league game.

Wojciechowski, who has signed with Duke, added four assists and five rebounds.

Jerard Rucker had 15 points for Gibbons.

* Atholton 88, South Carroll 86: Brian Benden scored a game-high 22 and Tony Stewart added 15, as host and No. 14 Atholton (1-0) defeated South Carroll (0-1).

* Edgewood 69, Howard 48: Junior forward Eric Briggs scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the No. 13 Rams (1-0) over the Lions (0-1).

* Oakland Mills 70, Linganore 51: Shawn Hill scored 21 points and pulled down nine rebounds, leading host Oakland Mills (1-1) past Linganore (0-1) in a non-league game.

6* Brian Ford added 18 for Oakland Mills.
