Man with shotgun robs convenience store

A man armed with a sawed-off shotgun robbed a Severna Park convenience store of an undisclosed amount of money last Tuesday, county police said yesterday.

According to the police report, the gunman walked into the High's store in the 500 block of B&A Blvd. at 10:37 p.m.

He pointed the shotgun at a clerk and demanded cash.

The clerk grabbed the barrel of the gun and began struggling, but the robber pulled the gun free and struck the clerk in the head with the barrel several times, then grabbed the cash drawer and ran out of the store, police said.

* Severna Park: Burglars broke into the St. John Evangelist School in the 600 block of Ritchie Highway between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Tuesday and took two VCRs, money and other property, all valued at $540.
