Road projects finished at Wayson's Corner

Major road work at Wayson's Corner, where state road crews have been working on highways and interchanges since August 1989, is finally at an end, the State Highway Administration announced yesterday.

A Route 4 bypass was completed in spring 1991. Yesterday, the administration announced that work on the routes 4 and 408 interchange was complete, at a final cost of $4.8 million.

Minor off-road work may continue but will not affect traffic, officials said.

In addition, a 49-space Park-n-Ride lot has been laid out on

Route 4 south of the new interchange. The Mass Transit Administration's No. 904-Route 4 Flyer, from Huntingtown/North Beach to Washington, D.C., begins operating from the new lot and from the Lord Calvert Bowling Lanes today. The new lot replaces a stop at Wayson's Restaurant.
