John G. Laferty, a native of Baltimore who was a retired manpower planner for the federal government, died Dec. 4 of cirrhosis of the liver at his home in McLean, Va. He was 84. Services were to be held at noon today at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in McLean. He is survived by his wife, the former Bobbie Jones; two sons, retired Navy Cmdr. John D. Laferty of Severna Park and Craig William Laferty of Cockeysville; a daughter, Cheryl Anne Laferty of Clifton, Va.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Harry D. Johnson, a native of Baltimore, died Sunday of complications of diabetes at a hospital in Springfield, Mo. He was 72 and had retired about 10 years ago as a foreman for the Colorado Fuel and Steel Co. in Pueblo. Survivors include a brother, Wilbur A. Johnson of Parkville.
