Chicago White Sox -- Offered salary arbitration to free-agent OF Tim Raines.

Cincinnati Reds -- Declined to offer salary arbitration to 3B Chris Sabo, 2B Bip Roberts and P Jeff Reardon, all free agents. Rehired Pat Kelly as manager and Jim Knudtson as trainer of Double-A Chattanooga.

xTC Colorado Rockies -- Agreed to terms with 1B Andres Galarraga on a four-year contract.

Houston Astros -- Outrighted the contract of P Rick Huisman to Triple-A Tucson.

New York Mets -- Announced the retirement of Joe McShane, vice president of Single-A St. Lucie, effective Jan. 1. Announced St. Lucie general manager Ross Vecchio will take on added responsibilities as spring training coordinator for the Mets.


NBA -- Named San Antonio C David Robinson Player of the Week.

Indiana Pacers -- Signed G Byron Scott. Placed C/F LaSalle Thompson on the injured list.

New York Knicks -- Placed F Charles Smith on the injured list with a knee injury. Activated F Eric Anderson from the injured list.

Arizona -- Named Jim Livengood athletic director.

Auburn -- Promoted receivers coach Tommy Bowden to offensive coordinator.
