Two men who were injured in separate shooting incidents over the weekend remained in serious condition yesterday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

James Scott Hoffman, 21, of the first block of Charles St. in Westminster shot himself in the abdomen, apparently while playing Russian

roulette with a .22-caliber revolver. City police found him in a house in the 300 block of Logan Drive about 12:45 a.m. Sunday, they reported.

Mr. Hoffman was taken to Carroll County General Hospital and later was transferred to Baltimore.

A spokesman said police are trying to determine whether anyone witnessed the shooting.

The other man, identified as Michael Lee Sanner, 53, of Reisters

town apparently shot himself in the elbow while deer hunting near Manchester on Saturday. He was able to walk to the nearby home of a relative after the accidental shooting, according to police reports.

A spokesman for Maryland Natural Resources Police said Mr. Sanner was hunting in a field on Wine Road about 8 a.m. The shooting is under investigation, the spokesman said.
