Alarmers Association to hold annual Christmas tree sale

The Anne Arundel Alarmers Association is holding its annual Christmas tree sale at two locations, the parking lot next to the Ferndale firehouse and the Millersville Supply Co. parking lot on Veterans Highway, across from the Northway Shopping Center.

From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, the Alarmers will sell Scotch pines for $20, Frazier firs for $35 and balsam pines for $15.

Purchasers will receive coupons for a drawing for a $25 certificate from Giant Food.

All proceeds will benefit Alarmers projects.

Cleaners accepting coats for needy

Linthicum Cleaners in the Shipley-Linthicum Shopping Center is accepting coats your children have outgrown but that are still usable for the Coats For Kids program.

The program, sponsored by the Dry Cleaners Association of Maryland Inc., makes sure the coats are cleaned and repaired before they are distributed to children in need.

Coats can be dropped off from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. this week, Monday through Saturday.

* Ferndale: Vandals broke into a vacant post office building in the 7200 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard Friday night and spray-painted obscenities on the bathroom walls.
