Site: Tampa (Fla.) Stadium

Time: 1 p.m.

TV: Channels 11, 9

Radio: WBAL (1090 AM), WTEM (570 AM)

Line: Buccaneers by 2 1/2

Records: Redskins 2-9, Buccaneers 3-8

Last week: The Redskins lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, 17-14. The Buccaneers lost to the Green Bay Packers, 13-10.

Last meeting: The Redskins beat the Buccaneers, 32-28, in 1989. The Redskins' defense held the Buccaneers to 1 yard rushing, and Gerald Riggs ran for 99 and Mark Rypien passed for 221. The Redskins built a 29-7 lead before the Buccaneers made it close.

The series: Redskins lead, 3-0.

On the sidelines: The Redskins' Richie Petitbon, in his first season, is 2-9. The Buccaneers' Sam Wyche is in his 10th season as a head coach with Cincinnati and Tampa Bay and has a 69-85 record.

What the Redskins have to do to win: How about playing the Colts again? That's the only team the Redskins have beaten since the opening victory against Dallas. The Redskins are beginning to look helpless, but they have to hope that Rich Gannon can pick up where he left off last week when he directed the team to two fourth-quarter touchdowns. If Gannon can scramble, he might be able to get some yards in the air to complement Reggie Brooks' running.

What the Buccaneers have to do to win: How about showing up? That's about all that it seems to take to beat the Redskins this season. By their standards, the Buccaneers have been playing fairly well, beating Minnesota two weeks ago and losing by three to Green Bay, although they don't look impressive on paper. The team features Vince Workman, who's filling in for injured Reggie Cobb and got 77 yards last week. Craig Erickson has a 68.9 quarterback rating (Gannon's is 61.1). The biggest advantage for the Buccaneers is that they're home, and the Redskins have yet to win a road game this year.

Injury report: Redskins: DE Shane Collins (foot), DT Bobby Wilson (knee) are out. CB Tom Carter (shoulder), DT Jim Wahler (foot) are doubtful. C Jeff Bostic (hip), DE Jason Buck (shoulder) are questionable. G Ray Brown (thumb) is probable. Buccaneers: DE Eric Curry (ankle) is out. G Bruce Reimers (ankle) is doubtful. RB Reggie Cobb (knee), NT Mark Wheeler (knee) are questionable.

Outlook: How far have the Redskins fallen? They're actually underdogs against the Buccaneers. It would be appropriate if this game ended in a tie because neither team appears to be good enough to win it. This could be the last game the Redskins have a realistic chance of winning this season.
