Lack of heat is forcing makeshift elementary schools in SARAJEVO and other towns to close after classes Friday. Danielle Maillefer, with the U.N. Children's Fund, said her agency was working with a radio station to broadcast a daily program to help children keep up their lessons until schools can reopen.

Serbs twice shelled a U.N. observation post near the Muslim enclave of TUZLA.

A 10-truck relief convoy reached the eastern Muslim enclave of GORAZDE after nearly a month of Serb refusal to let it pass. Its cargo included desperately needed nails and plastic to cover shattered windows and roofs.
