An Annapolis man who allegedly smashed his car into another, backed over a fence and then drove away yesterday morning has been charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana.

City police said they arrested Darryl Gregory Perry a few blocks from the crash, which occurred about 8:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Bay Ridge Ave. An ambulance was called because Mr. Perry was bleeding from the head.

On the way to the Anne Arundel Medical Center, the suspect allegedly asked a paramedic to remove his fanny pack and get rid of it. Police said they later found suspected marijuana inside the pack.

Mr. Perry of the 200 block of Victor Parkway was being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on $85,000 bond.
