Strange odor prompts school evacuation

December 02, 1993

A strange odor forced students at Severna Park Elementary School out of their classrooms for about an hour yesterday morning, school and Fire Department officials reported.

Firefighters were called to the school in the first block of Riggs Ave. at 11:30 a.m. to investigate a sulphur odor inside the building. When they arrived, the students had been evacuated, and the odor had disappeared, said Lt. Robert Kornmann, a Fire Department spokesman.

Firefighters could find nothing that would have triggered the smell, he said. No one was injured.
