Jessup man killed when car hits icy patch, slams into tree

December 02, 1993

A 32-year-old Jessup man was killed Tuesday night after his car spun on ice and hit a tree, Howard County police said.

Michael Allan Bergstein, of the 8000 block of Mission Road, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said speed was a factor in the accident.

Police said, Mr. Bergstein was driving his 1994 Nissan Maxima west along Mission Road about 11:53 p.m. Tuesday when the vehicle slid on an icy surface.

The Maxima spun clockwise and crossed the double yellow lines onto the right side of the road, where it rammed into a tree and turned on its side. A 25-mph speed sign was posted in the area.
