Man charged with attempted break-in at bank

County police charged a 26-year-old man yesterday with attempting to break into a Pasadena bank 4 1/2 months ago.

Officers charged Robert Paul Losleden, of no fixed address, with trying to break into the North Arundel Savings Bank in the 100 block of Mountain Road on the night of July 17 and trying to saw through the wall of the vault.

Police filed the charges after questioning Mr. Losleden, who was sitting in a pickup near the bank shortly after midnight yesterday.

According to the police report, an officer patrolling in the 100 block of Mountain Road spotted a man sitting in a pickup. When asked by the officer what he was doing in the area, the man said he was waiting for a friend. But the officer noticed a bag with a crow bar on the passenger seat and asked to search the truck.

The officer found several tools and four handguns in a plastic trash bag, police said.

Woman is robbed after ATM withdrawal

A 38-year-old Pasadena woman was robbed of her purse in the parking lot of the Sun Valley Shopping Center on Monday evening, shortly after she had taken money from an automatic teller machine, county police said yesterday.

Barbara Novak of the 1900 block of Orchard Point Road was getting in her car shortly before 7 p.m. when a man ran toward her and ordered her to throw her purse onto the ground, police said. When Ms. Novak threw it down, the robber grabbed it and ran to the rear of the shopping center.

She told police she saw another man near the bank machine apparently acting as a lookout.
