New positions

* Maryland Department of Economic & Employment Development has announced that Michael B. Styer has been named director of the Maryland Film Commission.

* McCormick & Co., the Hunt Valley-based international spice and flavorings company, has appointed Darrell F. Wood as vice president-development in the McCormick Flavor Division, for the KFC account.

* United Design Engineers, headquartered in Laurel, announced that James Wolf has joined the firm as a design-construction manager and will also oversee business development.

* Pleasant Prospect Farm has appointed Dr. Karen L. Shank, DVM, as resident veterinarian and stable manager for the Howard County horse-breeding and boarding facility.

* Metro Networks, providers of Metro Traffic Control, local and regional traffic news and information for radio and television, named Benson Riseman director of marketing for its mid-Atlantic region.

* Marks, Thomas & Associates, Baltimore architects, added Kenneth Lurz, Julie Gabrrielli and Gloria D. Milolajczyk to its staff as project architect.

* Thulman Eastern Corp., a distributor of engineered fireplaces, named Harold L. Steimel as operations manager for its Elkridge-based Baltimore-Washington division.

* Heath Design Group has chosen Sharon Rosen Walsh as project manager for the Baltimore-based interior design and space planning firm.

* Social Work Associates, has appointed Marsha Carow as a clinical supervisor.

* Bolton Offutt Donovan Inc. announced that Mark Lynne has rejoined the benefits consulting firm as a principal in its health & welfare services division.

Legal and professional

* Gordon, Feinblatt, Rothman, Hoffberger & Hollander has named Seth M. Rotenberg as an associate in its real estate department.

* Gross, Mendelsohn & Weiler, accountants, appointed Keith C. Dorsey to its accounting and auditing department.

* University of Maryland School of Law selected William S. Bernstein as assistant dean for development.

* Goucher College named Carl Egleston assistant director of residential living and James Guyon as assistant director of minority recruitment.

* Comcast Cablevision recently named Rick Otenasek as director of advertising and sales for its operations in Baltimore and Harford counties.

* BB&Y Inc, an advertising and public relations firm, has added Dani Gordon to its staff; he will specialize in Latin America.

Health care

* Integrated Health Services named Linda D. Richards senior vice president of clinical services.

* Chesapeake Health Plan has chosen Sharon Jo-Anne Bova individual product and medicare sales coordinator.

* CMC Occupational Health appointed Douglas W. Nohe director of sales.

Financial services

* Fidelity & Deposit Companies announced the election of Joseph C. Eanes Jr., chairman of the board. Mr. Eanes will continue as chief executive officer. The Baltimore-based fidelity and surety bonding pioneer also announced that Richard F. Williams joined the company as president and chief operating officer and that Thomas B. Bosley was named executive vice president.

* First National Bank of Maryland announced the selection of the following as vice presidents: Donald Stewart Cooper, commercial real estate division; Joe Crosswhite, special credits division; Roy S. Lewis, southern division; Curtis L. Withrow, greater Washington region; Margaret B. Rodgers, loan review division; and Donald G. Kulle, loan administration division.

* Issac & Associates financial planners, has named E. Lynne Arnold as a marketing associate.

Real estate

* MacKenzie/O'Connor, Piper & Flynn announced that John F. Harrington has joined the firm as vice president of retail leasing.
