Saturday: R. Madison Mitchell Chapter of Ducks Unlimited annual benefit dinner-auction at the Chesapeake Club on Aberdeen Proving Grounds, 6 p.m. Live auction, silent auction, raffles, door prizes.

Dec. 11-12: Gun and knife show sponsored by Camrod Hunting Club, Putty Hill Shopping Center, Parkville, 9 a.m. both days. Admission is $4.

FISHING

Through Tuesday: Fall rockfish season for charterboat and recreational anglers in Maryland's Atlantic coastal waters and tributaries. 28-inch minimum, no maximum. One fish per person per day.

HUNTING/SHOOTING

Through Jan. 31: Bow season for deer statewide. Combined season bag limit is five. (Firearms season is through Dec. 11; muzzleloader season is Dec. 18-Jan. 1.)

Through Jan. 20: Hunting season for sea ducks. Daily limit is five.

Through Jan. 15: Hunting season for quail west of I-83 south to I-695 to I-95 south to Virginia, excluding Allegany and Garrett counties. Bag limit is six per day.

Through Feb. 15: Hunting season for quail east of I-83, I-695 and I-95. Bag limit is six per day.

Through Dec. 31: Hunting season for pheasant (male only) in all counties except Garrett. Bag limit is one.

Through Dec. 11: Modern firearms season for deer statewide, although antlered and antlerless harvests are restricted in certain areas. Combined season bag limit is five.

Through Dec. 11: Disabled hunters' program at Rocky Gap and Elk Neck state parks. Registration and appropriate permits required.

Dec. 13-Jan. 8: Second split of brant hunting season. Bag limit is two.

Dec. 14-Jan. 8: Third split of duck hunting season. Daily limit is three, which may include no more than one mallard hen, one pintail, two wood ducks, one redhead, one fulvous tree duck, one mottled duck and one black duck (when in season). Canvasback and harlequin are closed. Mergansers: daily limit of five, of which one may be a hooded merganser. Coots: daily bay limit of 15.

Dec. 18-Jan. 1: Muzzleloader season for deer statewide. Combined bag limit is four.

Wednesday-Feb. 10: Second split of snow goose hunting season. Bag limit is four.

Dec. 13-27: Second split of Canada goose hunting season. Bag limit is one.

Dec. 28-Jan. 11: Third split of Canada goose hunting season. Bag limit is two.

BOATING

Feb 1: Registration for six boating courses offered by Flotilla 13-01 of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Basic and advanced coastal navigation, Boating Safety and Seamanship I and II, Sailing and Seamanship I and II. Towson State University, Hawkins Hall, Room 306, 7:30 p.m.

HIKING

Wednesday: Mountain Club of Maryland hike to Indian Cave in the Daniels area.

Wednesday: MCM hike in the Hereford Area of Gunpowder Falls State Park.

Next Sunday: MCM hike in the Hashawa, Bear Branch area of Carroll County.

Dec. 11-12: Winter backpacker at Gunpowder Falls State Park, sponsored by Department of Natural Resources rangers. Meals and snacks provided. Fee required.
