Winston-Salem jumper at :02 overtakes Bowie State, 80-79

BOWIE -- Phenizee Ransum's 10-foot jumper with two seconds left gave Winston-Salem (2-1) an 80-79 victory over Bowie State (0-2) in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association game last night.

Bowie State built a 38-31 halftime lead before Winston-Salem went on a 10-4 second-half run. Bulldog senior guard Brian Brooks (Southwestern) scored a career-high 31 points and added seven assists and six steals. Senior guard Kevin Purnell (Carver) added 11 points for Bowie State.
