Langston open to Yankees deal

November 25, 1993|By N.Y. Times News Service

NEW YORK -- Mark Langston, whom the Yankees tried to lure to New York four years ago when he was a free agent, would consider accepting a trade to the Yankees if the circumstances were right, a close friend of the 33-year-old left-hander said yesterday.

The friend, who requested anonymity, said Langston's first preference would be to remain with the California Angels beyond next year, the last of the five-year, $16 million contract he signed in 1989.
